As an editor, my job is to preserve your voice while ensuring perfect grammar, punctuation, spelling, and syntax. Similarly, a reference letter or resume must present your experience and qualifications clearly and succinctly. In addition to working with college admissions documents, I have many years of experience editing and proofreading legal and financial materials and professional academic papers for ESL speakers.

I taught elementary school in Houston, Texas and Virginia, specializing in gifted education and ESL instruction. A number of my ESL students were Chinese, mostly children whose parents were working in the medical center in Houston or enrolled in PhD programs.

Two years ago, I decided to strike out on my own as a freelance editor. Since then, my business has included editing business and travel articles, online lessons for a genealogy organization, memoirs, historical documents, and a variety of academic papers.  I also write high school curriculum using primary source historical documents.

When I'm not editing, I enjoy watercolor and sumi-e painting, weaving, and kayaking and bird watching in the river behind my house.
