I hold a first-class degree in English Language and Literature from Oxford, an MPhil from Cambridge and a teaching degree from the University of Edinburgh. I have tutored at both undergraduate and postgraduate level across a wide range of subjects and written for national publications including the Guardian and the Independent.

My main area of interest has always been the arts, with particularly developed interests in english literature, history, sociology, science communication, philosophy and history of art. I love to read and write creatively in a variety of formats, listen to the radio, enjoy quality cinema and attend the theatre whenever I can. I have a keen interest in local history and hillwalking. The majority of my spare time is spent writing and performing sketch comedy and I am currently in the process of setting up my own comedy collective on the back of a successful run at the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe. I'm also a qualified secondary school teacher, freelance journalist, and have interviewed and trained a lot of people in the course of my work as a science communicator.
