I am 46 years old and have been married for 15 years. I have written or co-written approximately 15 non-fiction books. The subjects have varied widely, from Prince Charles’ organic food company (The Duchy Originals Cookbook) to inventions (The Origin of Everyday Things) to the role of high altitude ballooning in the early stages of the Space Race (The Man Who Touched The Sky).My last three books have been the companion volume to a television series commissioned by Chinese Central TV called The West You Really Didn’t Know, a guide to the London Olympics (How to Watch the Olympics) and an illustrated Dorling-Kindersley book about economics for children. I have also ghost-written books for a Thai chef, a Dutch fishing entrepreneur and Sir Paul McCartney. In addition to the above, I wrote a regular column for the international intellectual property magazine IP Review from 2009 to 2011, and I currently write one for a title called Moving Money. In addition to my writing interests, I have experimented more directly in the world of business as the Founder and Marketing Director of Soup Works PLC, a chain of gourmet soup bars in the West End of London, which I founded after discovering several such restaurants opening in New York. We floated the company before we had even opened the first branch, raising £600,000 (and later another £500,000) on the basis of a prospectus which I co-authored.
