I received my B.A. from Rutgers University in the US, finishing four majors in Political Science, Sociology, Economics, and Criminal Justice, with a minor in Religion. From there I fortuitously moved to Cairo, Egypt, where I took a job as a researcher at a Cairo-based human rights think tank, and by accident wound up falling into journalism. From there I built a considerable following as a journalist, writing on the culture and politics of the Arab world. After returning to the US briefly to pursue a Master's degree in Islamic and Near Eastern Studies at Washington University in St. Louis, I completed my first book, an edited volume on the Israel-Palestine conflict, and returned to the Middle East for the next two years to resume my journalistic career shortly thereafter -- first to Indonesia on a Henry Luce Foundation fellowship, and subsequently to Morocco on a Fulbright fellowship.

After completing my first book, I began receiving solicitations for editing and writing consulting. Many of these requests came from scholars in the Arab world who got word of my reputation as an author, and sought my assistance in helping them work through their book manuscripts for publication. Being intimately familiar with the region, I was able to develop an exceptional niche in serving writers writing in English as a second language, and transforming their prose into work of publishable quality. My clients since successfully got their manuscripts published into proper books and journalistic articles.

Subsequently, I returned to the US for a doctorate at Duke University. Along the way I published my second book, an edited volume on post-revolutionary Egypt -- which has earned considerable accolades, including being featured in the prestigious New York Review of Books. In the context of my second book release, I continued to receive additional solicitations for editing services, both from authors, and from applicants to universities and graduate schools. Recognizing my prowess in producing compelling applications, by dint of my successful admission to some of the best universities and graduate programs in the world, and some of the most prestigious and renowned international grants and fellowships, applicants drew to me seeking my services as they constructed applications for their dream school. And without exception, every single one of the over fifty applicants I have worked with to date has found success in one of their top programs, or in gaining their desired coveted fellowship (I've coached over ten students into winning Fulbright awards, and several others into winning other major fellowships).

Now a proper doctor, I am working on my third book, while teaching at Fordham University. I see my role as an author as inextricably tied to my role as a writing and admissions consultant.
