Dianne Gebauer

Master's Degree in Musicology; Freelance Proofreader, Editor, & Writer

My name is Dianne, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to return to ZHISHIQ as an Advisor after working with MyDocumate last year.  Originally from Buffalo, NY, I have spent most of the last ten years studying and living in New York City and London, where I pursued my higher education, creative, and personal goals.

I recently relocated back to NYC, where I currently work as a freelance proofreader, editor, and writer.  In 2015, I earned a Master's Degree in Musicology at King's College London.  My research interests are interdisciplinary, primarily focused on issues pertaining to popular and classical music genres, canonicity, musical and lyrical analyses, queer theory, gender studies, and social theory.  Although I plan to one day pursue a PhD in this field, I am currently taking a hiatus from academia in order to transition into a career in research and writing on a broader scale.  In particular, I am interested in writing about the arts in the mainstream, as well as writing intersectional analyses of current sociopolitical, cultural, and human rights issues through satirical commentary.

As a student who has, over the last decade, not only prepared for a life in academia, but also studied in both the States and the UK, I have extensive experience in writing, proofreading, and editing academic work, as well as impeccable grammar and spelling skills in both American and British English.  Additionally, due to these experiences, I know first-hand how overwhelming and daunting the application process and prospect of studying in another country can be.  As your Advisor, I can offer you invaluable and strategic advice during this process, as well as help edit the content of your supporting documents in order to improve the effectiveness and success of your applications.
