Many people hang out at fraternities on the weekends, but older students like to go to bars. Going out is harder for non-Greek men, as most fraternities don't want guys at their parties that aren't in their fraternity. Many people also simply hang out in their dorms or apartments with their friends.
Tech is a fairly monogamous campus. Of course there are lots of random hookups, just like any college campus, but for the most part, people like to be in relationships. Girls with boyfriends in fraternities usually hang out at that fraternity a great deal. Shacking, or sleeping over at someone's place, and the walk of shame the morning after, are common occurrences on campus.
The two best places to meet individuals of the opposite sex are at fraternity parties and in class.
People at Tech are pretty preppy. On a given day most will be seen wearing polos, jeans, khakis, Uggs, or flip-flops. Rain boots and coats are also a must for rainy days.

School pride is rampant at Georgia Tech. The Swarm is the cheering section at sporting events of students wearing yellow T-shirts. These students are faithful supporters of Georgia Tech, and their pride has been recognized by several publications. The University of Georgia Bulldogs and the Auburn Tigers are the biggest, fiercest rivals in sporting events of Georgia Tech. The Florida State game is also a very hostile game full of collegiate rivalry.
You will need tickets for games. For all athletic events, students pay for tickets in their tuition. For football season, students get vouchers and then turn them in for tickets. For basketball, students simply claim tickets online and they are given out on a first-come-first-served basis. For all other sports, students can simply get tickets at the game with their Buzzcard, since buying tickets isn't competitive.

  • MJQ Concourse

The subterranean MJQ pulsates with everything from punk and industrial rock to house and R&B. A wide mix of people meet here on weekend nights, including Tech students, young professionals and die-hard clubbers, many dressed in the hippest Euro-wear.

  • Opera Nightclub

Opera is the club that is most popular with Tech students, especially younger ones, as it is 18 and older. They have many live acts, DJ's, and musicians perform. Many students like to spend their weekends at Opera, especially when they are having themed parties.

  • Famous Pub & Sports Palace

A huge sports bar nestled in a strip mall, Famous is a great place to spend a football Sunday or a weekend night for their cheap drinks and good food. Don't try your fake ID here, though; they can always spot a youngster.

  • Moe's & Joe's Bar & Grill

Decorated like a mom-and-pop store from the `50s, Moe's & Joe's looks more like a place for soda and ice cream than a nice cold beer. However, the $3.25 pitchers of Pabst on Tuesdays will quickly dissuade customers of that notion.

  • Frat parties

Most underage students opt to just stay on campus and go to frat parties. Since Atlanta isn't a college town, bars and clubs actually check IDs, so you've got to have a pretty good fake. It really isn't an issue, though, if you can't get into a club or bar because there's so much to do on campus.
