  • Finished two temperature measurement boxes
  • Designed a rack and pinion which connected MBE and STM using Solidworks 2014 and successfully implemented a low friction rotation stage for the sample holder
  • Made W tips using NaOH with AC and DC etching
  • Repeatedly did annealing and sputtering of W tips to get atomic resolution
  • Used STM to scan the surface of some certain material and study the electron induced luminescence of heterostructures

  • Synthesized uniform mono-layer MoSe2 with side length about 50um on SiO2/Si substrate by Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) using Ar as carrier gas
  • Exfoliated mono- and few- layer 2-D materials using the scotch-tape micromechanical cleavage method and transferred them on a Transfer Platform
  • Fabricated nanoscale superconductor/ferromagnet heterostructure devices with low ohmic contact resistance by utilizing Electron Beam Lithography (EBL), magnetron sputtering system and wire bonder
  • Measured the transport property of novel 2-D material devices by Physical Property Measurement System (PPMS) with lock-in technique
  • Improved Raman Spectrum optical path to raise the signal to noise ratio to more than 30:1
  • Performed thickness-dependent Raman peak positions of 2-D materials
  • Demonstrated a distinct periodic angular-dependence Raman Spectroscopy using half-wavelength wave plate and linear polarizer, showing direct evidence of the anisotropy of some certain 2-D materials
  • Constructed cryogenic Raman system for detecting Photoluminescence of 2-D materials down to low temperature
  • Constructed photocurrent measurement system for testing photoelectricity function of 2-D materials
